~ About Starla ~
Starla has been in the wedding industry for a little over 28 years, during which time she was
also involved in Children's Ministries for 13 of those years. She also designed a VBS craft
program for a church conference that was used throughout the State of Ohio.
Over the years, Starla has married many couples in various styled weddings; her first being a
small, intimate ceremony.
Starla, has written articles on the subject of weddings; published in newsletters and in
national online wedding sites. She is also a frequent contributor to wedding boards & is a
member of several wedding professional & ministerial organizations.
She is well liked & respected among her peers and is frequently asked for advice.
As a minister, Starla is capable of & available to do other liturgical services such as baby
dedications, & baptisms - but she specializes in weddings. She takes pride in the
fact that a couple knows they have an officiant they can work with; someone who will help
create a ceremony just for them. She says she never tires of saying the words, "I now
pronounce you husband and wife"; it is a thrill each & every time!

Currently I perform weddings in Warren Correctional Institution (WCI) & Lebanon Correctional
Institution (LeCI) & Lebanon Correction Honor Camp; all in Lebanon, Ohio, Warren County.
Each penal facility is different. You will need to contact the Deputy Warden/Officer who is in
charge of Special Services for the correct information. Your marriage may need to be approved
by the prison before it can take place.
With some prisons, you will need to arrange for an attorney to obtain your marriage license.
Deputies in both Lebanon & Warren facilities have been sworn by the Court to represent them.
With Warren Correctional, I return the marriage license. Lebanon Correctional, Deputy Schwitzer
picks up the license & files it afterward with the Court. But, for both, you must make the initial trip
to Probate Court/Marriage License Bureau in Lebanon to apply for the license.
If you are marrying in another facility, email or mail the clergy questionnaire or any pertinent
information to me so that I can complete it and provide all the necessary info for my approval.
(Again) each facility is different & requirements for clergy/officiants vary.
As with any facility there may be unforeseen delays so try to be patient. We'll get you married!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING:
For LeCI:
Deputy Warden Tom Schwitzer takes care of marriage arrangements. It can take as little as 30 days to
complete the paperwork & set your wedding date.
Unless there are extenuating circumstances the prison asks that marriage ceremonies be completed by 3:00pm.
Mornings are better; before visitation begins. Deputy Schwitzer makes every effort to accommodate your
schedule & visitation for your wedding.
My fee is $85.00 cash; paid before the ceremony
Call Deputy Schwitzer at (513) 932-1211 ext.#2020
For WCI:
Deputy Chris DeHart is in charge of Special Services. (513) 932-3388
Wedding ceremonies take place only in the morning, right before visitation for the day starts.
My fee is $85.00 cash; paid before the ceremony.
Any other facility my ceremony is $100 plus any travel expenses such as mileage/lodging.
I charge $1.00 a mile both to & from the facility.
Fees and mileage must be paid before the wedding date.
When I arrive at the facility, I am not responsible for any cancellations by either the bride, groom
or the institution THE DAY OF THE SCHEDULED WEDDING, therefore you will forfeit the fee and
mileage paid.
Disclaimer
I am not an employee of, nor do I represent, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and
Corrections or any of it's special programs.
Information/requirements are subject to change. Please talk to the Deputy in charge in which
prison you plan to marry.

FAQ
* Gratuties are not expected but always appreciated.
|
* Please think carefully before choosing a friend or relative to perform your ceremony. When the wedding officiant has experience in performing a marriage ceremony, the ceremony will be more professional, polished and even more meaningful than when an untrained friend or family member presides. The wedding minister/officiant, in addition to writing or creating a cohesive ceremony, because of their experience, helps the entire ceremony process to run smoothly and ensures an appropriately dignified experience.
|
* So what does an Officiant do? Your officiant is a consummate professional without which there would be no marriage. It is the least expensive cost in a typical wedding, yet the only required part. Minister, priests, of J. P's, etc., collect a salary plus receive an honorarium; an officiant does not. Our fee is our income. It takes an average of 10 hours of work per custom ceremony with the writing, the meetings, prompting of decisions needing to be made concerning vow, unity ceremony, readings and all the other elements a ceremony entails.
